Department of numerical weather predictions

Department of numerical weather predictions acts as a specialized body of the CHMI in the field of numerical weather prediction models and nuclear air pollution dispersion models.

Current terms of reference:

• development and operations of tools of the numerical weather prediction ant its applications for the weather forecasting practice;
• development of the numerical weather prediction model ALADIN in frame of the intenational ALADIN Consortium and programs of the Regional Cooperation for Limited-Area modelling in Central Europe (RC LACE);
• participation to the projects of the European Working Group for Limited-Area Modelling (EWGLAM) and the Short-Range Numerical Weather Prediction Network (SRNWP);
• development, maintenance, and operations of the operational suite of the ALADIN model at CHMI;
• development and maintenance of the long-range nuclear air pollution dispersion modelling system TRAKON.
