Aerological Department

Aerological Department is responsible for aerological and surface meteorological measurement at Praha-Libus Observatory. The basic meteorological parameters (atmospheric pressure, air temperature, air humidity and wind speed and direction) are measured by radiosondes launched into atmosphere on meteorological balloons four times a day. Ozone vertical profiles are measured three times per week (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday) from January to April and vertical profiles of beta and gamma radiation yearly.

The Praha-Libus Observatory makes synoptic, climatological and other observations (as monitoring of surface radiation, testing of new meteorological equipments etc.) as well.
