Basic Information

Central Laboratory of Air Qulity (CLI) was established within the Air Quality Protection Division for purposes of air quality monitoring using chemical analysis of atmosphere. We were appointed by the Ministry of Environment as a National Reference Laboratory of the Czech Republic for measurement of ambient air quality.
There was done extensive renewal of CLI in Prague-Libuš thanks to Phare program (in 2003). There were built and equipped rooms for the preparing and weighting of filters for ultratrace analysis during this renovation.

The mission of CLI is to provide mainly:

- management of the state monitoring network operation - Air Quality Monitoring Network,
- management and realization of inspections of air quality measurement,
- technical education and training of employees supporting air quality measurement,
- air quality monitoring - gases, aerosol particles, precipitation and deposition - in purpose-built manual monitoring networks, incl. special measurements at EMEP and GAW/WMO sites,
- service operations and data processing from the network of Automated Air Quality Monitoring (AIM) and Manual Air Quality Monitoring (MIM) in Prague and the Central Bohemian region,
- realization of ad hoc mobile measurements and co-operating on aerial measurements,
- systematic monitoring of volatile hydrocarbons in ambient air,
- analysis of organic ozone precursors (VOC) and organic compounds in ambient air incl. the toxic ones (ethane, ethene, propane, propene, i-butane, n-butane, sum of butenes, i-pentane, n- pentane, sum of pentenes, n-hexane, isoprene, n-heptane, benzene, 2+3methylheptane, n-octane, toluene, ethylbenzene, m+p- and o-xylene),
- special chemical analyses of gases, aerosol particles on filter media and precipitation waters,
- measurement of dry deposition rate in the Ore Mountains - at Rudolice sampling site.
