Meteorological radiosondes launched by CHMI are used to measure pressure, temperature, humidity and wind speed and direction in the upper atmosphere. Balloon filled by hydrogen carries radiosonde up to the 30 km above surface. All the data are transmitted to the station immediately. In the 30 km height balloon bursts and radiosonde falls down to the ground.
Radiosondes aren't made for reuse, so CHMI is not interested in collecting once used radiosondes. If you don't want to keep radiosonde, please dispose of it by following your country's guidelines for the disposal of electrical waste.
There are also ozonesondes used by CHMI, which are equipped with parachute and ozone sensors are covered by protective styrofoam box. These radiosondes can be reused in some cases. Should you have found the ozonesonde, please follow the instructions on the radiosonde cover. If you send the CHMI's ozonesonde to us you will get a reward 400,- Czech crowns. You should obtain it in 3 months. Reward should not be applied to radiosondes found outside the Czech Republic.
